Wags Doggie Day Care has been in business since 2007. We have an outstanding staff that are all well educated in canine behavior, first aid, and nutrition. We strive to offer the best customer service possible for both the owners and dogs. Everything we do here at Wags is done to provide the dogs with the best experience possible. Wags offers spacious indoor play space and a great big, secure outdoor play yard in a beautiful rural location.

Dogs are grouped by temperament and play style. Play is carefully monitored to be sure that everyone is safe, comfortable, and happy! After playing in our spacious indoor play space and secure outdoor play yard, Wags guests rest on comfy beds, couches and chairs.

How to enroll your dog

•  Is your dog over 12 weeks of age?

•  Does your dog enjoy being in the company of other dogs and people?

•  How about vaccines – we require documentation of up-to-date Rabies, and the other Core Vaccines.  Talk with your veterinarian about vaccines for canine upper respiratory infections, such as “kennel cough” and canine influenza.

•  Spayed or neutered?  We require that dogs be spayed or neutered at an appropriate age

•  Healthy, physically fit and able to play safely without restrictions?  We do require that you dog has a recent stool sample checked  by your vet for intestinal parasites, including Giardia, and we ask that your vet send us a copy of those results.

Our evaluation process

We schedule 2 evaluation visits for every potential new client, for a fee of $25:

  1. The first is a brief 15-20 minute “Meet and Greet”, where we introduce your dog to a few easy-going friends here at Wags.  We do an initial assessment of their ability to meet unfamiliar dogs and unfamiliar people in an unfamiliar place.  We look for the ability to greet new dogs appropriately and hope that they are able begin to relax a bit, maybe even play for a few minutes.
  2. The next visit is no longer than 1 hour, and we bring your dog outside to play with a few more dogs.  We want to be sure that your dog isn’t too fearful or anxious, not aggressive or overwhelming in their play style, and that they can be safely handled by our staff.  Typically dogs relax a good bit more during this second visit and play more, and begin making friends!

If your dog is enjoying their time here during these first 2 evaluation visits, and responds well to new dogs and our staff, we begin scheduling “Mini Days” – no longer than 2 hours –  to allow your dog to get used to coming without being overwhelmed or over-tired.  It may take a few visits, maybe a few weeks of visits for your dog to able to come for full days.  We let your dog tell us what they are able to comfortably and safely handle.

Reservations

We require that all clients commit to a regular schedule of at least one day per week. We are typically fully booked, and often have a waiting list for each day.  If your dog is unable to attend their regularly scheduled day, we request that you call or email us 24 hours in advance to cancel their reservation so that another dog might be able to get in that day. We do charge clients for missed days if we aren’t notified.
